Werkstatt: Exhibitions Co-ordinator
Piotr is a documentary and portrait photographer whose work follows two parallel threads: social and political issues, and the human face and body. To pursue these, he works conceptually through collages, grids, moving images, and photographs distressed by scanning and photocopying. Each of these processes becomes a tool for revealing what's hidden in an image, altering its content and quality to expose something beyond the original photograph. That same instinct to dig beneath the surface extends to his collecting: he hunts down photography books in antiquarian shops as far afield as Japan and the US.
It also shapes the role he plays at Werkstatt. Years of exploring galleries and museums have sharpened his eye for space. He scouts exhibition venues, liaises with them directly, and coordinates preparations with students from around the world, then draws on that same eye for layout to help them display their work at its best.
